National Academy 2023

National Academy was a great one. I had a terrific group. There were many different participants in the group. Ned Crossley, also known as “Coach,” was in my group. He skis at a slightly lower level so he can ski with his wife. It was an incredible learning opportunity for me to spend some time with him. At the end of his experience, I asked him and his wife (Jennie), what did they like about their experience?

Ned looked at me and said, “First you cared and then you shared.” This is what great teaching is all about. You have to care about your students and, more importantly, show that you care about them. There are a number of ways to do this. One way I managed this is by making sure that I rode the chairlift with different people versus the same people over and over again.

We had some great snow and one of the things that I love at National Academy is watching everyone improve. It is very rewarding and you have time to work with everyone. Thank you again to Big Sky and the people that run all the behind the scenes of that resort. 2024 will be just as amazing, if not better!
